What is Brightmoor Kids?
On Sundays, all children (Birth – 5th Grade) experience a safe, age-appropriate environment where Biblical truths are taught through worship, object lessons, and Bible stories. Our goal is to partner with parents to build and develop the spiritual formation of children and create experiences they will never forget. At Brightmoor, we recognize that every detail of a child’s life matters.
First Time Experience
As you enter our lobby look for the Brightmoor Kids logo.
At the information desk, we will walk your family through our check-in process. We will need the following: parent/guardian’s name and cell phone number, children’s names and birthdates, and any special instructions for your children (allergies, special needs). Your information is kept secure.
We will lead your child to their age-appropriate room, where all workers have up-to-date background checks.
Wednesday Nights
On Wednesday nights, we offer several great options for all children Birth – 5th grade.
- Birth - Young Fives
- Royal Rangers for boys K - 5th Grade
- Girl Ministries for girls K - 5th Grade
The Drive Home
On your way home, be sure to ask your child questions like, “Did you have fun?” and “What did you learn today?” It’s our goal that every child has a positive answer to these two questions, every week!
Drew Hynson
Children’s Pastor
Drew Hynson
Drew Hynson along with his wife, Alysha, joined the Brightmoor team in April 2022. Before moving to Michigan, he was a lifelong native of sunny California, where for over two decades he had the privilege of working with kids in church and school settings. Drew believes there is nothing better than helping children discover the purposes that God has for their lives. Drew and Alysha were married in July 2016 and have three extremely energetic boys and one precious girl. When not spending time with family, Drew enjoys sports, fishing, and anything that has to do with being outside.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Alysha Hynson
Early Childhood Director
Alysha Hynson
Alysha Hyson is married to Pastor Drew, and they have four amazing kids. Alysha has worked closely with the KIDS ministry since coming to Brightmoor in 2022. As our KIDS Nursery Director, she enjoys caring for our young babies and creating a safe and loving environment.
While Alysha’s current and only pastime hobby is raising her four young children, she loves a good coffee. When her and Drew have time, they also enjoy spending a day, any day, and traveling to one of Michigan’s 11,000 inland lakes or one of the big five lakes that surround our state.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Who is allowed to work with children?
Your child’s safety and security is one of our primary concerns. For this reason, we are very careful who we allow to serve in our children’s ministry. All those who work with minors must be approved per our Child Protection Policy, which requires staff and volunteers to be in regular attendance at Brightmoor and to have passed a criminal background check.
What other measures do you take to ensure my child’s safety?
Brightmoor Kids has a Child Protection Policy which includes specific rules and procedures that all kids workers are required to follow. As an example, all rooms must always have two approved adult workers in them when children are present. Our children learn and are trained in a secure environment, and our preschool classrooms are under video surveillance.
What if my child has been sick or seems to be getting sick?
While we love to have your children in our care, we also strive to minimize passing illness from one child to the next. For this reason, if your child has had a fever, colored drainage from their nose, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, or they currently have a skin rash, eye infection or other symptoms of illness, please do not bring them to class.
What will my child be taught?
Brightmoor Kids currently uses High Voltage Curriculum for K-5th grade. The core values that our kids will learn are “God Knows Me, Jesus Loves Me, The Holy Spirit Leads Me, & I am a Child of God. Children will learn how the Gospel is told from Genesis through Revelation. When children truly experience the Gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the Gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.
By registering my child, I, the undersigned parent/legal guardian of the minor, grant permission for your child/children to participate in our events, endorsed and sponsored by Brightmoor Christian Church; 40800 W. 13 Mile Rd. Novi, MI 48377. I understand the arrangements and believe that adequate precautions for the safety of my child/children have been and will be provided at these events. I will not hold Brightmoor Christian Church responsible for accidents. Photos of my child may be used for graphics, publications and on the website/app and videos. I hereby authorize any leader, volunteer or paid, of Brightmoor Christian Church of Novi, MI to transport my child/children as needed in order to obtain any medical treatment from any licensed physician, surgeon, dentist or medical treatment center; including emergency treatment/transportation.
