Top 10 FAQs - Debt-Free Brightmoor
Why is the church working to become debt-free?
We believe that being debt-free by October 2026, will allow us to invest more resources into ministry, outreach, and education initiative, aligning with biblical principles of stewardship.
How much debt does the church currently have?
We are committed to financial transparency. As of January 31, 2025, our mortgage stands at $4,275,031. When we celebrate our 100-year anniversary in October 2026, we will still carry a mortgage debt of approximately $1.4 million.
Will my contribution be made public?
Absolutely not. Only the total of all commitments received will be announced.
How can I contribute to the debt-free campaign?
You can support this effort by participating in the Together We Can campaign. You can specify your contribution for debt reduction. Simply select the “Together We Can” option when giving online or note it on your offering envelope. You can also visit our giving page for more details at brightmoorchurch.org/give.
Can I give my tithe to the "Together We Can" campaign?
We are asking that any giving to this campaign be “above and beyond” your regular tithes and missions giving. If you are currently not tithing, we would suggest that you start there before engaging in the campaign.
Will regular ministry activities be affected?
No, our regular ministries will continue as planned. Becoming debt-free will only serve to enhance these ministries by freeing up financial resources.
What is the church currently doing to reduce debt and expenses?
Currently we are averaging a monthly payment of $173,285 against our mortgage. This is approximately $137,000 above the required mortgage payment. It is this aggressive approach towards the mortgage that has allowed us to rapidly pay down the original loan of $20,250,000.
How does the church ensure financial accountability?
We have a finance team in place to oversee all funds. Regular updates will be provided to the congregation, and external audits are conducted to maintain accountability.
What happens if the church receives more than $1.4 million dollars?
Once debt-free, we will pause and celebrate as a church whenever that occurs in the timeline. All extra monies received for the campaign will be placed in a holding account. We are actively seeking the Lord on the next big thing God has for Brightmoor. These extra monies will serve as a “seed” investment for that.
Who can I contact for more information?
If you have additional questions, please contact Pastor Amitabh Singh (Executive Pastor) or Cheri Austin (Accounting Manager) at the church office. We would love to hear from you!
