Liza Soviak – Shielded by God’s Hand
What began as an ordinary day caring for my two young children quickly turned into one of the most terrifying moments of my life. An argument between my husband and me escalated far beyond anything I could have imagined. In a moment of crisis, he reached for a firearm, and I knew immediately that I had to protect myself and, most importantly, my children.
Acting on instinct, I was able to take the weapon from him and ran toward the garage to escape. Before I could get the door open, he caught up to me and tried to pull me down. In the struggle, I managed to break free and run out the front door to safety. Looking back, I know that if I hadn’t been able to get the firearm away from him—or if anything had gone differently—I might not be here today to share this testimony.
I walked away with bruises and deep shock, but I also walked away with a profound awareness of God’s protection. In that moment, I was face to face with danger, yet the Lord shielded me from harm. He preserved my life and gave me the strength to escape.
I am grateful beyond words for His covering, His protection, and His presence in the darkest moment I have ever faced. God truly is my refuge and my defender.
