Joseph Wasil’s Story

My Motivation Behind Wasil Science

From the earliest days of my childhood, I’ve been drawn to the wonders of nature. Whether it was catching worms and toads in the backyard or marveling at the intricate design of insects, I’ve always felt a deep connection to God’s creation. My parents and grandparents nurtured that curiosity, always pointing me toward the Creator behind the creation.

At a young age, I accepted the gift of salvation, praying with my mom which is an unforgettable moment that laid the foundation for everything that would follow. Around the age of 12, I felt a clear calling: to spotlight the Lord’s creation in a way that pointed people to the cross of salvation. With my mom faithfully behind the camera, truly the best camera person I could ask for, I began making home videos that celebrated the creatures I loved. Inspired by wildlife legends like Steve Irwin and Jack Hanna, I admired their passion, but I knew my mission was different. I didn’t just want to talk about the art, I wanted to talk about the Artist. My Savior the Lord Jesus.

That calling followed me through high school, where I was voted “Most Likely to be the Next Crocodile Hunter.” I knew I wanted to work with wildlife, but not necessarily full-time in a zoo or nature center. Through the wise counsel of my parents, I pursued a career in education, earning a degree in Science Education from Oakland University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership. I’ve now spent 17 years teaching Biology and Chemistry, always with the goal of pointing students to the Creator through the lens of science.

In 2020, during the lockdowns, the Lord opened a new door: Wasil Science, LLC. What began as a YouTube channel quickly grew into a full-fledged ministry. I’ve now authored over 100 books, many of which have been listed as New Best Sellers in their categories on Amazon. My flagship series, Creation Creature Features, is geared toward students ages 4 and up and has been described as “Zoo Books with the Gospel.” I also wrote Gator Explores for preschool families and Into the Wild with Wasil for high school students.

These books use general revelation, God’s creation, to point readers to special revelation, His Word and the Gospel of King Jesus. I often say, “You can’t talk about the art without talking about the Artist.”

The ministry has also opened doors for speaking engagements on apologetics and creation, where I often bring along some of our wildlife ambassadors to interact with families. I’ve had the privilege of partnering with the International Association for Creation, contributing to their zoo and national park guide content from a Biblical worldview. We have also been featured nationally in God’s World News magazine publication multiple times.

Through it all, my mission remains the same: to help others see the fingerprints of God in every feather, scale, or leaf and to proclaim that the beauty of creation points us to the beauty of the Creator and Savior, our Lord Jesus.
